## Title: Assistant Manager, Accounts Payable

Position Overview

Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group seeks a qualified Assistant Manager to oversee the accounts payable function. This role ensures timely and accurate processing of vendor payments while maintaining compliance with financial regulations and supporting efficient team operations. The successful candidate will provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decisions, budgeting, and performance evaluation across the organization's service lines.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Management

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure timely, accurate payments in line with contractual terms
  • Verify supporting documents (Purchase Orders, Goods Receipt Notes, contracts) before invoice posting
  • Monitor accounts payable aging and assist with month-end close
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and respond to vendor inquiries
  • Liaise with vendors, procurement, and finance teams
  • Prepare overseas vendor payments with detailed bank instructions and payment advice
  • Reconcile overseas vendor accounts

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyse financial data and create decision-support models
  • Prepare forecasts, budgets, and variance reports
  • Evaluate financial performance and recommend improvements
  • Support month-end closing and financial reporting

Cost Management & Budget Control

  • Monitor and manage project and operational costs to ensure budget adherence and financial efficiency
  • Support cost analysis and enforce financial policies
  • Develop and maintain cost control plans and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS)
  • Track budget variances and challenge deviations
  • Post project costs to designated project codes and transfer costs to Cost of Goods Sold upon project completion
  • Reconcile project cost reports with accounting records

Administrative & Compliance

  • Compute monthly overdraft charges on bank accounts
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax regulations, including PAYE, VAT, and WHT
  • Manage statutory deductions such as Pension contributions

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations (PAYE, VAT, WHT) and statutory deductions
  • Proficiency in accounts payable and financial management
  • Experience with budget development and variance analysis
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities
