Account (Payable Officer)

Position Overview

Reliable Steel and Plastic Industry Limited is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Officer to join our finance team in Onitsha. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of one (1) year post-NYSC experience, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and strong practical knowledge of accounts payable operations within a structured organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Process, verify, and record supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
• Prepare and process payments (cash, cheque, bank transfers) in line with company policies
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice discrepancies promptly
• Maintain proper documentation and filing of all accounts payable records
• Post transactions into accounting ledgers and accounting software
• Assist with monthly and year-end financial closing activities
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations (VAT, WHT), and internal controls
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation
• Monitor outstanding payables and manage payment schedules efficiently
• Liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding payment issues

Requirements & Qualifications

• B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• NYSC completed with at least one (1) year post-NYSC work experience
• Strong understanding of general accounting and accounts payable functions
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Good knowledge of Nigerian taxation basics (VAT, WHT)
• High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Must be willing and available to work in Onitsha

Added Advantage

• Professional certification (ICAN or ACCA – partly or fully qualified)
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
