## Title: Account Officer
Position Overview
We are looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Account Officer at our Lagos branch.
Location
Opic Isheri, Ogun
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Prepare and submit daily sales, cash, POS, and expense reports to Head Office
- Ensure accurate posting of all financial transactions in the accounting system
- Reconcile daily cash sales, POS transactions, transfers, and bank deposits
- Prepare weekly and monthly financial summaries for the branch
Cash & POS Control
- Supervise cashiers and ensure strict adherence to cash handling procedures
- Investigate and report cash shortages, overages, and POS discrepancies
- Ensure timely banking of cash and POS settlements in line with company policy
- Maintain proper documentation for all cash movements
Inventory & Cost Control
- Work closely with the Store Manager and Inventory Officer on stock counts and variance analysis
- Monitor cost of goods sold (COGS) and report abnormal variances
- Ensure proper recording of damages, expiries, returns, and write-offs
- Support periodic and surprise stock-taking exercises
Expense & Vendor Management
- Verify and process branch expenses, ensuring proper approvals and supporting documents
- Monitor petty cash usage and ensure accountability
- Liaise with vendors on invoices, deliveries, and payment reconciliations
Compliance & Internal Control
- Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, and internal control procedures
- Enforce segregation of duties at branch level
- Flag suspected fraud, theft, or financial irregularities to Management and HR
- Support internal and external audits when required
Staff Support & Coordination
- Provide financial guidance to the Branch Manager
- Train cashiers and relevant staff on financial procedures and controls
- Work closely with HR on payroll inputs, attendance-related deductions, and staff-related financial issues
Qualifications & Experience
- HND/BSc in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
