Job description
A warehouse and logistics officer's responsibilities include managing warehouse operations like receiving, storing, and dispatching goods, as well as coordinating transportation and ensuring inventory accuracy. Key duties involve tracking shipments, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Warehouse operations Receiving and dispatching: Oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, ensuring accurate quantities and quality.
- Inventory management: Conduct physical and cycle counts, update inventory records, and ensure stock is organized and stored correctly.
- Stock control: Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages and manage the reconditioning and storage of goods.
- Warehouse maintenance: Ensure the warehouse is clean, organized, and that all equipment is maintained and functioning properly.
LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORTATION
- Coordination: Schedule and coordinate the movement of goods with carriers, suppliers, and other logistics providers.
- Shipment tracking: Monitor incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues that arise.
- Documentation: Prepare shipping documents, bills, and invoices, and ensure all necessary paperwork is accurate and compliant with regulations.
- Cost optimization: Analyze and optimize transportation routes and carrier performance to minimize costs and improve efficiency.
COMPLIANCE AND REPORTING
- Safety and regulations: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, internal policies, and relevant trade agreements.
- Reporting: Collect and analyze data to report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory turnover and on-time delivery.
- Process improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the supply chain and warehouse operations and help implement new strategies.
- Vendor management: Maintain relationships with carriers, vendors, and other stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- A B.Sc/HND in Warehouse & Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-7 years of progressive experience in the Warehouse and Logistics business.
- Proven track record in Business Development, specifically in cross-border logistics, import/export, or cargo consolidation/groupage.
- Deep understanding of groupage logistics operations, container shipping, and Nigerian Customs clearance processes.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, make strategic decisions, and manage a team to achieve business goals.
