About the Role

News Central TV is expanding its dynamic team and seeking a talented Video Editor to join our Lagos-based operations. You will work on a variety of video projects, from news segments to promotional content, collaborating with clients and creative professionals to deliver high-quality final products.

Key Responsibilities

• Review shooting scripts and raw footage to create shot lists based on scenes' value and contribution to continuity
• Create rough cuts and final cuts for video projects
• Create promotional videos
• Meet with clients to establish the desired feel and look for videos
• Gather and transfer all forms of media into editing software, ensuring correct formatting
• Operate computer editing systems and equipment used for video media and effects
• Establish a clear understanding of the storyline and purpose of each video project
• Create initial proposed storyboard drafts to present to clients for approval before digital editing begins
• Improve video and sound quality using various video editing software
• Edit video to include preselected music, interviews, sound clips, and other project elements
• Ensure correct formatting and presentation of finalized videos according to client specifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Film Editing or related field
• Professional mastery of video and audio editing software and programs
• Experience editing various video projects and inserting sound effects, music, and transitions
• Creative experience in filmmaking and videography
• Proficiency in creating concept boards and other visual representations of planned edits

• Strong ability to understand client requirements and bring creative visions to life
• Excellent communication skills with solid understanding of project scope and implementation
