Position Overview
The Governing Council of Nigerian British University announces a vacancy for the position of Vice Chancellor, effective February 9, 2026. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill this role in accordance with the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Decree 1993, Decree No. 11, as amended.
About the Role
The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University, serving as ex officio Chairman of Senate and member of the Governing Council.
The Vice Chancellor holds the following responsibilities:
- Responsible to the Council for policy implementation in finance, property and facilities management, and general administrative operations
- Responsible to the University Senate for academic programme administration
- Oversight of staff and student discipline in accordance with institutional regulations
- Effective management of human and material resources
Key Requirements
- PhD or equivalent professional qualification
- Full Professor status with a minimum of 5 years experience in a recognised university
- Not above 60 years of age at the time of appointment (February 9, 2026)
- Extensive high-level university administration experience
- Proven track record as a distinguished academic in university teaching and research
