## Title: Studio Technical Director

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to join News Central TV as a Studio Technical Director. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all technical aspects of studio operations, ensuring broadcast quality standards, and maintaining equipment functionality across live and pre-recorded productions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a sound technician within the gallery and studio, ensuring all sound microphones are in place and working properly
  • Install mobile microphones on guests and undertake sound and vision mixing in accordance with international broadcast standards
  • Compile all commercials, programs, and promos for transmission and ensure they run according to the Daily Transmission Schedule
  • Ensure all cameras and lighting equipment within studios are correctly aligned before and during live and pre-recorded programs
  • Handle broadcast equipment carefully during productions and send faulty equipment to the workshop for repair
  • Handle broadcast equipment outside the premises during live or pre-recorded events
  • Maintain database information in the TV Playout Servers
  • Check peak levels against peak/VU meter calibration to ensure clarity of sound, commentary, and music according to established procedures
  • Ensure availability of quality transmission signals and remain alert to respond to signal interruptions on a 24-hour basis
  • Compile and update CTS and DTS on a daily basis
  • Ensure studio equipment is functioning by conducting daily dusting and testing, and sending faulty equipment to maintenance for repair
  • Efficiently handle equipment when assigned to OB (Outside Broadcasting) or on-site productions, packing equipment properly and ensuring safe return to News Central premises
  • Maintain logs of all customer complaints and errors, ensuring a 24-hour turnaround for complaint and error resolution
  • Operate studio and OB equipment to ensure quality sound and video in studio productions and live broadcasts
  • Ensure selected shots are well-balanced on screen and relevant to the message
  • Provide daily reports of events and recommend improvements

Required Skills and Experience

  • Sound engineering and mixing expertise
  • Knowledge of camera and lighting equipment operation
  • Understanding of international broadcast standards
  • Experience with TV Playout Servers and broadcast systems
  • Ability to respond quickly to technical issues on a 24-hour basis
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
  • Experience with outside broadcasting equipment and on-site productions
