Steel Fabrication Quality Control Officers at Sevan Construction Nigeria Limited

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Steel Fabrication Quality Control Officer to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that all materials, in-process work, and finished products meet our strict quality standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting unacceptable materials
• Inspect completed work and work in progress to ensure compliance with specifications and plan requirements
• Approve in-process construction and fabrication by confirming required specifications
• Approve all finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests
• Monitor overall construction performance with regard to technical quality and compliance with design requirements
• Interpret and review shop drawings
• Document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs
• Return products for rework if needed and complete documentation to confirm rework completion
• Prepare testing, qualification, and certification processes for welding as per project specifications
• Monitor and ensure welding is carried out under correct conditions
• Provide accurate data on welding inspection parameters
• Prepare relevant reports on welding activities
• Provide professional supervision to the welding team
• Work with the Factory Manager to identify approaches and methods to improve overall quality
• Educate workers on required standards
• Note and report on work that does not meet requirements
• Maintain a safe work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations
• Coach and mentor junior employees and seek opportunities to develop leadership in others
• Study codes and required project specifications

Required Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Engineering, Building & Construction, Architecture, or Technology
• At least 4-8 years of experience in the steel fabrication industry
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and AutoCAD

• Additional relevant certifications or qualifications are an added advantage
