Steel Fabrication Quality Control Officer at Sevan Construction Nigeria Limited

About the Role

This position offers a great opportunity for career growth in steel fabrication quality management. You will be responsible for ensuring all materials, in-process work, and finished products meet rigorous specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting unacceptable materials
• Inspect completed work and work in progress to ensure compliance with specifications and plan requirements
• Approve in-process construction and fabrication by confirming required specifications
• Approve all finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests
• Monitor overall construction performance regarding technical quality and compliance with design requirements
• Return products for rework if needed and complete documentation to confirm rework completion
• Document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs
• Interpret and review shop drawings
• Prepare testing, qualification, and certification processes for welding as per project specifications
• Monitor and ensure welding is carried out under proper conditions
• Provide accurate data on welding inspection parameters
• Prepare relevant reports on welding activities
• Provide professional supervision to the welding team
• Work with the Factory Manager to identify approaches and methods to improve overall quality
• Educate workers on required standards
• Coach and mentor junior employees and seek opportunities to develop leadership in others
• Study codes and required project specifications
• Maintain safe work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations

Required Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Engineering, Building & Construction, Architecture, or Technology
• 4–8 years of experience in the steel fabrication industry
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD
• Additional relevant qualifications are an advantage
