Senior Structural Engineer at Westfield Consulting

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to provide structural support for tenders and offshore projects, delivering specialist skills, integrity, and knowledge in key areas of structural engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements, and current good engineering practice.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to both the Engineering Manager (functional) and Project Manager (project-related) and supervises Structural Engineers and Draughtsmen involved in structural calculations and drafting.

Key Responsibilities

Functional and Technical Responsibilities:

• Provide structural stability and integrity calculations for subsea structures
• Design structures to resist forces for in-service, installation, and transportation load conditions, determining size, shape, strength, and type of structural members
• Produce and review design documentation including feasibility reports, detailed design reports, and equipment specifications
• Generate specifications, data sheets, and material take-offs (MTOs)
• Coordinate structural engineering support for multi-discipline projects in line with defined budgets and schedules
• Perform concept and detail design of offshore fit-for-purpose lifting arrangements and steel structures, including lifting appliances, lift points, lift arrangements, grillage, and sea fastening
• Conduct structural strength verification analyses, including advanced non-linear Finite Element Analysis using software packages such as SACS
• Review structural deliverables, including construction reports and drawings
• Perform quality control on deliverables prepared by colleagues
• Ensure timely completion of all assigned engineering deliverables
• Provide specialist structural engineering support during occasional offshore or site working periods
• Provide engineering support during the execution and fabrication phases of projects
• Contribute to events such as bid clarifications, kickoff meetings, and design reviews as required
