Senior Procurement Category Manager - Events & Competitions at The Confederation of African Football (CAF)

About the Role

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) seeks an experienced Senior Procurement Category Manager to lead procurement operations for CAF competitions, events, and Member Association needs. You will manage sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, and contracting across multiple categories while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the procurement category for CAF competitions, events, and Member Association operations
• Oversee the complete tender process for sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, and contracting including:
  • Tournament operations
  • Match and team logistics
  • Security arrangements and safety requirements
  • Hospitality services and VIP/Protocol arrangements
  • Event support services and equipment
  • Member Association operational needs
• Ensure full compliance with CAF's procurement policies, governance standards, and financial regulations
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to guarantee high-quality service delivery
• Coordinate closely with Competitions, Member Association, Events, Safety & Security, and Finance teams to define procurement requirements and delivery timelines
• Develop category strategies, cost-saving initiatives, and performance improvement plans
• Monitor supplier performance, service-level agreements, and contractual compliance throughout event cycles
• Contribute to risk assessment, contingency planning, and operational readiness for all CAF events
• Support continuous improvement of procurement processes and information systems

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• 7–10 years of procurement experience, ideally in events, sports, or large-scale operations
• Strong expertise in supplier management, contracting, and category strategy development
• Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments

Key Skills & Competencies

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and project management skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Command of any CAF official language is advantageous
• Professional certifications (CIPS, CPM, PMP) are an asset
