Senior / Mid Level Backend Developer at IT Horizons Limited

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to join IT Horizons Limited in Lagos, Nigeria. This position is responsible for the design, development, testing, and deployment of software systems that meet customer requirements. You will sit within the IT team and liaise with Business Analysts and Development Managers to ensure software projects meet all requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy software systems meeting customer specifications
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Development Managers on project requirements
• Design, integrate, and write APIs
• Work with relational databases and ensure efficient database architecture
• Fix bugs and optimize application performance to ensure bug-free applications
• Deliver software projects within specified timelines
• Maintain and enforce documentation standards across all code
• Resolve customer support requests within SLA without escalation to management
• Manage direct reports and mentor team members
• Work in small cross-functional Agile teams to build complex systems

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong background in PHP and frameworks (Laravel/Lumen preferred)
• Understanding of SOLID programming principles
• Expertise working with packages and other developers' codebases
• Dedication to Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Experience with relational databases
• Experience with modern development tools including version control, preprocessors, and task runners
• Knowledge of cloud computing architectures
• Comfortable with Linux servers and DevOps practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize projects to meet deadlines
• Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, designers, and other developers
• Relevant qualifications and professional experience
