Senior Health & Safety Officer at Java Design Concepts Ltd

About the Role

Java Design Concepts Ltd, a reputable construction and design company, is seeking a Senior Health & Safety Officer with 15–20 years of proven experience in occupational health, safety management, and compliance within the construction industry. The successful candidate will champion safety culture, ensure compliance with statutory regulations, and provide leadership on all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure preventive measures are in place
• Lead safety inductions, trainings, and toolbox talks for staff and contractors
• Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations, codes, and standards
• Investigate incidents and accidents, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, contractors, and management on all HSE matters
• Mentor and supervise junior HSE officers to uphold best practices

Required Qualifications

• B.Sc./HND in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum of 15 years' experience in HSE roles, with at least 5 years in a senior capacity
• Relevant professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ISPON, or equivalent
• In-depth knowledge of Nigerian safety laws, regulations, and international standards (ISO 45001, OSHA, etc.)
