Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to join our finance team. The Senior Accounts Officer is responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory regulations, and contributing to the efficient operation of the finance department.

The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple accounting processes effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in accordance with accounting standards
• Ensure timely posting of journal entries, ledger reconciliation, and monthly closings
• Generate financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and clarification

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Oversee invoice processing, vendor payments, and account reconciliations
• Monitor ageing reports and follow up on outstanding receivables
• Ensure prompt billing and collection of revenues from clients

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting activities
• Monitor departmental budgets and highlight variances or risks to management

Tax & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., VAT, PAYE, WHT, corporate tax)
• Prepare and file statutory returns in a timely and accurate manner
• Keep abreast of changes in tax regulations and accounting standards

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

• Implement and maintain financial controls and accounting procedures
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend efficiencies
• Maintain documentation for all accounting processes and systems

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a mid to large-sized company
• Professional accounting certification
