Job description

## Title: Senior Accountant

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to serve as the finance backbone of a fast-growing egg operation. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on accountant with knowledge of poultry operations—including feed, flock performance, breakage/shrink, route sales, and mobile money cash-ups—capable of transforming field complexity into accurate financial records on a daily basis.

Core Responsibilities

Core Accounting

  • Maintain accurate books in dual currencies (TZS & USD) using ERP systems (Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho, or SAP B1)
  • Own AP/AR, bank, and mobile money reconciliations (M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Tigo Pesa) and manage petty cash
  • Prepare monthly closes including trial balance, P&L by site/route, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
  • Manage payroll, advances, and statutory deductions; coordinate with local payroll providers as needed

Cost & Farm Accounting

  • Build and maintain standard costs for eggs (feed, medications, labor, utilities, transport)
  • Track feed usage, feed conversion ratio (FCR), mortality, culls, and grading losses; reconcile eggs laid versus graded versus sold daily
  • Value inventory (feed, medications, packaging) and biological assets; conduct weekly stock counts and variance reports
  • Manage route/depot accounting including cash and COD controls, days sales outstanding (DSO), credit limits, and bad-debt provisioning

Controls & Compliance

  • Implement and audit cash-up standard operating procedures (SOPs) for drivers and outlets; conduct surprise counts and document findings
  • Ensure compliance with Tanzanian tax requirements and filings in coordination with local consultants (VAT, withholding, payroll); maintain clean audit trails and EFD/e-invoicing records where applicable
  • Draft and enforce practical finance SOPs for stores, purchases, and dispatch operations

Reporting & Planning

  • Produce daily dashboards tracking production, sales, average selling price (ASP) versus index, shrink/breakage, collections, and cash on hand
  • Generate weekly reports on route profitability, feed variance, aging, and working capital
  • Prepare monthly management packs with commentary, risk identification, and corrective actions
  • Support budgeting, cash flow forecasting, vendor negotiations, and capital expenditure (CAPEX) tracking
