Security Assistant - Office of the Auditor General at Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)

Role Overview

Under the supervision of the Administrative Officer, the Security Assistant provides 24/7 emergency availability support. The incumbent supervises external security personnel deployed to the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) and assists in all security-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining security plans, including evacuation drills and emergency procedures to ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed during various incidents
• Monitor compliance with Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS) and Minimum Operating Residential Security Standards (MORSS)
• Liaise with the Head of Security at ECOWAS Commission to monitor and assess the security situation at the duty station and provide recommendations as appropriate
• Support training courses on security issues, awareness, and preparedness
• Implement decisions agreed upon at security management meetings
• Supervise private security guards attached to the OAG and assist in managing the security company when required
• Coordinate armed backup and escort duties for the Head of Institution and staff members, including travel security advisory
• Maintain all security records
• Conduct basic security investigations and provide appropriate recommendations
• Recommend appropriate security equipment for OAG use and contribute to budgeting
• Liaise with other security agencies at the duty station and in the host country
• Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

• Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or equivalent in social sciences (such as Public Administration, Business Administration, or Sociology) from a recognized tertiary institution
• Training in security management and security studies (advantageous)
