Security Assistant - Office of the Auditor General at Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)

Role Overview

Under the supervision of the Administrative Officer, the Security Assistant will be available for emergency callouts 24/7. This role encompasses supervising external security personnel deployed to the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) and providing support across all security-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and assist in implementing the security plan, including evacuation drills and emergency procedures to ensure Standard Operating Procedures are followed during various incidents
• Monitor the status and compliance of Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS) and Minimum Operating Residential Security Standards (MORSS)
• Liaise with the Head of Security at ECOWAS Commission to monitor and assess the security situation within the duty station and provide recommendations as appropriate
• Support training courses on security issues, awareness, and preparedness
• Implement decisions agreed upon at security management meetings
• Supervise private security guards attached to the OAG and assist in the management of the security company when required
• Coordinate armed backup and escort duties for the Head of Institution and staff members, including travel security advisory
• Maintain all security records and documentation
• Conduct basic security investigations and provide appropriate recommendations
• Recommend appropriate security equipment for OAG use and contribute to budgeting
• Liaise with other security agencies within the duty station and host country
• Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• Brevet de Technicien Superieur (BTS)/Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or equivalent in social sciences (such as Public Administration, Business Administration, Sociology, etc.) from a recognized tertiary institution
• Training in security management and security studies is an added advantage
