## Title: School Accountant
About the Role
We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates. The School Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the institution, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with accounting standards and school policies. This role involves maintaining financial records, preparing reports, managing budgets, and supporting the school's mission by ensuring prudent financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including fees, salaries, procurement, and other expenses
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management and board review
- Monitor cash flow, accounts receivable, and accounts payable to ensure smooth financial operations
- Develop and manage the school's budget, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and school policies
- Prepare and file statutory returns (e.g., PAYE, pensions, taxes) in a timely manner
- Provide financial reports and analysis to support decision-making by school management
School Operations Support
- Manage student fee collection, issue receipts, and maintain accurate records of payments
- Work closely with the admissions and administration teams to reconcile student accounts
- Support payroll processing for teaching and non-teaching staff
- Assist in procurement processes by verifying invoices, quotations, and supplier payments
Internal Controls
- Implement and monitor internal control systems to safeguard school assets
- Conduct periodic audits of financial records and processes
- Identify and mitigate financial risks
Collaboration & Communication
- Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities
- Communicate financial information clearly to management, staff, and stakeholders
- Provide guidance on financial matters to non-finance staff as needed
