## Title: Safety Marshal
About the Role
Our client is a thriving safety consulting company seeking to recruit Safety Marshals across various sites in Nigeria. This is a contract position, renewable upon excellent performance and project continuance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily Toolbox Talks (TBT) to communicate task-specific hazards and control measures
- Monitor, enforce, and document compliance with all HSE rules, policies, and statutory requirements
- Verify the identity, certification, and competency of all personnel on site to ensure they match approved roles and tasks
- Exercise Stop-Work Authority to immediately halt any unsafe activity or potential hazard
- Conduct routine site inspections and hazard observations, escalating non-compliance to supervisors
- Participate in incident and near-miss reporting and support preliminary investigations
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and enforce disciplinary actions when necessary
- Support the implementation of Permit to Work (PTW) systems and verify that work permits are adhered to
- Maintain updated records of daily safety activities, attendance, briefings, and compliance status
- Collaborate with site supervisors to ensure safe execution of all tasks and promote a strong safety culture
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related technical field
- OND may be accepted with HSE certifications
- HSE Levels 1, 2, and 3 (or equivalent)
- First Aid/CPR certification
Experience and Requirements
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in HSE operations
- Experience working on construction, aviation, manufacturing, oil and gas, or technical project sites is advantageous
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, safe work practices, and industry standards
- Proficiency in Permit to Work (PTW) systems
- Ability to identify hazards, enforce controls, and perform site safety inspections
- Skilled in incident and near-miss reporting and preliminary investigation procedures
