Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Handyman Daige Properties in Lagos. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, ensuring that projects are completed within budget. The Quantity Surveyor will work closely with procurement officers, architects, engineers, and project managers to provide accurate cost estimates, financial reports, and cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and overheads
• Analyze project plans and specifications to assess the financial implications

Budget Management

• Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial constraints
• Monitor expenses and prepare regular budget reports for stakeholders

Tendering and Procurement

• Prepare tender documents and assist in the tendering process
• Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the best prices

Cost Control and Reporting

• Monitor project progress and costs, identifying any discrepancies or potential financial issues
• Provide accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections

Valuation and Payments

• Conduct valuations of work completed and prepare payment applications for contractors and subcontractors
• Assess variations and claims and provide recommendations for approval

Risk Management

• Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses

Collaboration

• Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure project objectives are met
• Attend project meetings and provide expert advice on cost-related matters

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with local regulations and building codes
