## Title: Quantity Surveyor
About the Role
A reputable organization seeks a dedicated Quantity Surveyor to join its construction team. You will be responsible for managing project costs, contracts, and financial risk throughout the construction lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Review scope of work, project preambles, drawings, and specifications
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, considering materials, labour, and overhead costs
- Liaise with site construction teams to finalize and certify physical work completed to facilitate subcontractor payments
- Manage contracts and ensure compliance with agreement terms
- Identify potential financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Assess project designs for cost-effectiveness and propose alternatives that maintain quality standards
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure adherence to contracts
- Monitor quantities of materials received, issued, and used at site by subcontractors to support weekly progress reporting
- Assess change work orders and variations (from subcontractors and clients) in line with the contract of agreement
- Monitor payment flow to subcontractors against budget quantities and actual progress made
- Prepare and evaluate tender documents and negotiate with contractors to select suitable bids
- Evaluate material specifications and vendor/subcontractor prices against project specifications
- Monitor projects concerning budgeted costs, demand forecasts, and time overruns to ensure timely execution
- Negotiate pricing contracts with subcontractors and suppliers
- Prepare bills of quantities and subcontractor valuations
- Develop and implement new purchasing strategies to deliver cost reductions and process simplification
Requirements
- BSc or HND in Quantity Surveying
- Must be a Registered Quantity Surveyor
- 5 years of work experience (procurement experience is an added advantage)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Sound knowledge of construction
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel
- Excellent relationship-building skills
