Job description
## Title: Quality Control Officer
Job Purpose
The Quality Control Officer ensures that all poultry products and processes comply with established food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The role is responsible for monitoring production, conducting tests, enforcing compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and maintaining product integrity from raw materials to finished goods.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Monitor and ensure compliance with national and international food safety regulations (NAFDAC, SON, HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP)
- Enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all production stages
- Conduct routine inspections of production lines, cold rooms, and packaging units to ensure compliance with hygiene and quality standards
Testing & Monitoring
- Perform microbial and chemical tests on raw materials, water, and finished chicken products
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and document corrective actions when deviations occur
- Verify that products meet weight, temperature, and packaging requirements
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, inspection logs, and deviation reports
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports for management review
- Track and report non-conformances, recommending improvements where necessary
Process Improvement & Training
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to improve quality processes
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives in quality systems
- Train staff on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), hygiene standards, and food safety awareness
Customer & Regulatory Audits
- Assist in preparing for external audits (regulatory bodies, customers, and certifications)
- Provide necessary documentation and act as a liaison during inspections

- Compliance rate with HACCP and food safety standards
