Job description
Position Summary
The Production Assistant Manager supports the overall management of daily production operations in the packaging manufacturing facility. This role ensures smooth workflow, adherence to quality standards, cost efficiency, and timely delivery of corrugated and paper packaging products. Working closely with the production manager, the assistant manager supervises production staff, coordinates schedules, monitors machinery performance, and drives continuous improvement initiatives across the plant floor.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
- Assist in planning, organizing, and overseeing day-to-day production activities to meet production targets and delivery schedules
- Ensure corrugated and paper packaging is manufactured in line with specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements
- Monitor machine operations (corrugators, printers, die cutters, gluers, etc.) to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency
- Track production KPIs such as output, scrap rate, and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
Team Supervision
- Supervise, train, and motivate production operators, technicians, and shift leaders
- Support workforce scheduling, shift planning, and overtime management to meet production demands
- Enforce discipline, safety practices, and adherence to SOPs on the shop floor
Process & Efficiency Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste, lower costs, and improve productivity
- Support the implementation of lean manufacturing and 5S practices across the plant
- Assist with troubleshooting production issues and coordinating timely repairs with the maintenance team
Quality & Compliance
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure all products meet customer and regulatory standards
- Monitor adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ISO standards, and safety regulations
- Participate in quality audits and corrective action processes
