Position Overview
Mshel Construction Limited is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Procurement and Quantity Surveying Officer to join our team in Abuja. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the company's procurement activities while ensuring timely, cost-effective acquisition of materials, supplies, and services. This role also encompasses quantity surveying responsibilities for project contract management and financial control.
This position requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent negotiation skills, strong vendor management abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of procurement best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to support the company's operations and strategic goals
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive prices and favorable terms for materials and services
- Manage the complete procurement process from requisition through delivery, including RFQs, purchase orders, and supplier contracts
- Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions and monitor supplier performance metrics
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine procurement needs and technical specifications
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to improve procurement efficiency
- Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and best practices in procurement
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, including material schedules, equipment requirements, and subcontractor costs
- Measure and quantify construction work completed for progress payments and final account settlements
- Analyze and validate claims from contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Participate in project cost control, forecasting, and reporting to the project management team
- Identify risks and opportunities related to construction costs and provide strategic recommendations
- Assist with preparing tender documents
