## Title: Preoperative Nurse
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, disciplined, and proactive Perioperative Assistant to join our surgical team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the Operating Theatre (OT) runs smoothly, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing essential support to surgeons, anaesthetists, and nursing staff before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating Room Preparation: Assist in preparing the theatre with necessary equipment, sterile drapes, and instruments required for specific surgeries
- Patient Care & Transport: Safely transport patients to and from the ward to the operating theatre and assist in the correct positioning of patients on the operating table
- Sterilization & Hygiene: Maintain strict aseptic techniques, clean and disinfect the theatre between cases, and ensure the proper disposal of clinical waste
- Assistance During Surgery: Provide non-clinical assistance to the surgical team, such as adjusting lights, opening sterile packs, and handling unsterile equipment
- Administrative Compliance: Accurately maintain all required logs, including the Linen Entry/Exit Register, equipment inventory, and security logs
- Inventory Management: Assist in restocking surgical supplies and ensure that all necessary consumables are available for the day's list
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Minimum of a Diploma in Health Assistance
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in a hospital environment, preferably within a surgical or emergency department
- Professionalism: Outstanding interpersonal skills with a proven ability to remain calm and respectful under pressure
- Conduct: Strict adherence to hospital conduct policies is mandatory
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long periods and assist in lifting and moving patients and heavy equipment
- Attention to Detail: Deep understanding of sterilization protocols
