Preform Injection Mold Technician

Position Overview

The Preform Injection Mold Technician will be responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and optimization of preform injection molding machines used in the production of preforms, caps for bottled water, and flip tops. The role ensures efficient production of high-quality output through proper machine calibration, mold management, troubleshooting, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate PET preform injection molding machines (e.g., Husky, Nissei, ASB, or equivalent)
• Perform mold installation, alignment, and changeovers in accordance with production schedules
• Monitor machine parameters and adjust settings to maintain product quality and production efficiency
• Conduct routine inspections on molds, hot runners, and auxiliary equipment (chillers, dryers, loaders, etc.)
• Troubleshoot machines, mold, or material-related issues to minimize downtime and waste
• Ensure preforms meet dimensional and visual quality specifications
• Perform preventive maintenance on molds and machines as per maintenance plans
• Maintain accurate production, downtime, and maintenance logs
• Collaborate with the quality, maintenance, and production teams to achieve set targets
• Follow all safety, hygiene, and 5S practices within the production area
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process reliability and output

Requirements

• Test Trade, OND, or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
• Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a Preform Injection Mold Technician, preferably in a bottled water or plastic packaging company
• Understanding of PET material properties and performing molding parameters
• Familiarity with injection molding machines, hot runner systems, and mold cooling circuits
• Good problem-solving, troubleshooting, and mechanical aptitude skills
• Basic electrical knowledge
