Key Responsibilities

Vessel & Equipment Maintenance

• Oversee and coordinate maintenance, repair, and inspection of vessels, engines, and port equipment
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules in line with manufacturer recommendations and regulatory requirements
• Supervise dry-docking operations, vessel surveys, and major overhauls

Technical Operations

• Ensure all vessels and port assets are maintained in a seaworthy and operational state at all times
• Conduct technical assessments and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, fuel consumption, engine hours, and maintenance activities

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements including class, flag state, and ISM/ISPS codes
• Enforce safety standards and procedures during maintenance and operational activities
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, port authorities, and classification societies as required

Budgeting & Procurement

• Prepare and manage budgets for vessel maintenance, repairs, and spare parts
• Coordinate procurement of technical supplies and monitor inventory levels
• Evaluate vendors, contractors, and shipyards to ensure cost-effective and quality service delivery

Team Coordination & Reporting

• Supervise technical crew and shore-based maintenance personnel
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations
• Prepare and submit maintenance and performance reports to management

Requirements

• Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in marine engineering or ship maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or port engineer role
• Seagoing experience as a Chief or Second Engineer (Certificate of Competency) is an added advantage
