## Title: Phlebotomist

Job Overview

A reputable organization seeks a dedicated individual for this phlebotomist role. The successful candidate will be responsible for blood collection, specimen analysis, and laboratory operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify patients and verify personal information by reviewing identity documents
  • Assess patient needs, review patient history, and determine reasons for blood draws
  • Select appropriate gauge needles and prepare veins or fingers for blood collection
  • Extract blood from patients through venipuncture or finger-stick procedures
  • Analyze blood specimens using appropriate testing equipment
  • Maintain blood bank and chemical inventories
  • Set up, maintain, calibrate, clean, and test sterility of medical laboratory equipment
  • Label, sort, and verify specimens and organize all information into the system
  • Prepare specimens for transportation with accurate labeling and patient matching
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting of all data
  • Supply diagnostic notes to physicians, healthcare professionals, and hospitals
  • Keep and maintain records of patient names, blood volume drawn, and diagnostic findings
  • Order laboratory supplies as needed
  • Comply with all laboratory policies, safety regulations, cleanliness standards, and infection control procedures
  • Perform additional laboratory duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • MLA, MLS, or MLT qualification
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of work experience as a laboratory technician
  • Current practicing license with MLSCN
  • Proven experience in the healthcare sector as a Phlebotomist

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Customer orientation with ability to adapt to different patient types
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
