About the Role

As a Pattern Maker at Woodgate Structure Limited, you will create technical blueprints (patterns) for garments and products, translating designer sketches into precise, production-ready templates. You will handle grading for different sizes, optimize fabric use, and collaborate with production teams to ensure accurate fit, quality, and construction for mass manufacturing and custom pieces.

Key Responsibilities

• Study designer sketches, concepts, and models to understand requirements for fit, proportion, and construction
• Develop master patterns (physical or digital) for all garment components, including seam allowances and construction details
• Create sample prototypes, participate in fittings, and make necessary pattern adjustments for perfect fit and drape
• Scale patterns up and down to create different size ranges while maintaining proportions
• Determine the best layout for pattern pieces on fabric to minimize waste (marker making)
• Document details such as stitching lines and pocket placements, and provide technical specifications for production
• Organize, update, and maintain pattern libraries and datasheets
• Work closely with designers, tailors, and production teams to ensure accuracy and quality

Requirements

• Deep understanding of garment construction, fit, and body proportions
• Proficiency in pattern drafting methods (e.g., Natalie Bray, Helen Armstrong, CAD software)
• Strong attention to detail, precision, and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• Knowledge of different fabrics and their behavior
