Nutrition Assistants at Protection without Borders (POWIB)

About the Role

A reputable organization seeks a dedicated individual to support the implementation of nutrition activities at the community and facility levels. The Nutrition Assistant will assist in the delivery of community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM), infant and young child feeding (IYCF), and nutrition education sessions, ensuring that nutrition interventions are effectively coordinated, timely, and meet quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Program Implementation

• Support the implementation of CMAM activities, including screening, admission, follow-up, and discharge of children with acute malnutrition
• Facilitate IYCF sessions and promote optimal feeding practices for infants, young children, and pregnant and lactating women
• Assist in organizing and conducting community sensitization, awareness campaigns, and nutrition education sessions
• Ensure timely collection and reporting of data from OTP and IYCF sites in accordance with program standards

Community Engagement

• Work closely with community volunteers and local leaders to mobilize beneficiaries for nutrition activities
• Identify and refer malnourished children and vulnerable cases to appropriate services following established referral pathways
• Support home visits and follow-up of discharged beneficiaries to ensure continuity of care and reduce relapse rates

Monitoring and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of beneficiaries and ensure that nutrition registers, attendance sheets, and stock cards are properly updated
• Collect and submit data for weekly and monthly reports in coordination with the Nutrition Officer
• Assist in monitoring stock levels of nutrition supplies and support requests for replenishment when necessary

Coordination and Teamwork

• Work collaboratively with health facility staff, community volunteers, and other sectors (Protection, WASH, etc.) to ensure integrated service delivery
