Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Microbiologist to join our team at Johnvents Foods Limited. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all food products meet the highest microbiological standards, ensuring safety and compliance with health regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Microbial Testing:
- Conduct microbiological tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure they meet company standards and regulatory requirements
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of microbiological test results and trends
Quality Control:
- Collaborate with the Quality Control team to implement and enforce food safety standards
- Perform routine testing for pathogens, spoilage organisms, and allergens in products and raw materials
Hygiene and Sanitation:
- Oversee and perform regular environmental monitoring of the production areas to ensure compliance with sanitation and hygiene protocols
- Conduct microbiological analysis of water, air, and surfaces in the manufacturing facility to prevent contamination
Research and Development:
- Support product development and innovation by conducting microbiological research to improve food preservation techniques, shelf life, and safety
- Collaborate with R&D teams to troubleshoot microbiological issues and propose corrective actions
Compliance:
- Ensure that all microbiological activities adhere to local and international food safety regulations and industry best practices
- Prepare and submit reports on microbiological findings to regulatory bodies when required
Requirements
Education:
- HND or Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field
Experience:
- Minimum of 2–3 years in a microbiology or food safety role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques, laboratory equipment, and food safety protocols
