## Title: Medical Radiographer

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Radiology Unit, you will examine various types of diagnostic images and aid in patient diagnosis through capturing high-quality images of bones, organs, and human tissue. You will operate diagnostic imaging equipment including X-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners.

This role requires strict adherence to established safety regulations and procedures when operating radiation equipment to prevent harmful exposure to ionizing radiation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including MRI, CT, X-rays, and ultrasound
  • Operate machinery used to collect diagnostic images
  • Obtain patient histories through patient interviews and establish patient cooperation and trust
  • Communicate test results and diagnoses to patients' primary physicians through detailed reports
  • Take responsibility for radiation safety in the work area, including checking equipment for malfunctions and errors
  • Set accurate radiation levels in accordance with established standards
  • Obtain patient consent prior to diagnostic imaging to fulfill legal requirements
  • Monitor patients during and after radiation to ensure proper response to treatment
  • Develop films and process digital images to obtain high-quality radiographs for physician interpretation
  • Supervise and monitor the work of radiography assistants and student radiographers
  • Record and store patient examination results in compliance with Data Protection Act and Patient Confidentiality codes
  • Produce reports as required
  • Keep up to date by attending all relevant training on treatment and equipment

Requirements

  • Professional medical radiography qualification
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures and radiation safety protocols
  • Ability to operate diagnostic imaging equipment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality images
  • Understanding of data protection and patient confidentiality requirements
  • Ability to supervise and train support staff
