Mechanical Fitter at African Industries Group (AIG)

Job Summary

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment used in steel production. The role ensures minimal downtime, maximum equipment efficiency, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, fit, and install mechanical components and production machinery
• Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical equipment to identify faults and carry out repairs
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to minimize equipment breakdowns
• Align, adjust, and calibrate machinery parts to required specifications
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and maintenance manuals
• Operate hand tools, welding machines, and other fitting equipment safely
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and spare parts used
• Collaborate with production and electrical teams to ensure smooth operations
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures

Qualifications & Requirements

• Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical Fitting), or
• OND (Ordinary National Diploma) in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or
• HND (Higher National Diploma) in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 2–6 years of work experience
