## Title: Mechanical Engineer – Water Treatment Plant Project

About the Role

Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO) is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer for a water treatment plant project in Lagos, Nigeria. This position involves engineering design, vendor management, and quality assurance for a large-scale water treatment facility.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

  • Prepare and review design calculations for rotary and packaged equipment including:
    • Pumps (Raw Water, River Water, HRSCC Feed, Chemical Transfer, Backwash, Sludge)
    • Blowers and compressors (if applicable)
    • Chemical dosing and unloading packages
    • Skid-mounted packages (UF, RO auxiliaries, chlorination, dosing systems)
  • Review vendor drawings and documents including mechanical datasheets, GA drawings, P&IDs, and layouts
  • Perform equipment sizing and selection calculations
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable standards (API, ASTM, ASME, ISO, MSS)

Vendor Engineering & Technical Bid Evaluation

  • Prepare RFQs and technical specifications for rotary and packaged equipment
  • Conduct Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) and vendor comparison for various packages
  • Review and approve vendor drawings, documents, and datasheets
  • Coordinate with vendors for technical clarifications, deviations, and optimizations
  • Review painting specifications, materials of construction, noise limits, and inspection/testing requirements

Interdisciplinary Coordination

  • Coordinate with Process, Civil, Electrical, and Instrumentation teams regarding equipment layout and accessibility
  • Support power requirements and motor selection
  • Collaborate on instrumentation and control philosophy
  • Support preparation of load lists, I/O lists, and equipment interfaces

Inspection & Quality Assurance

  • Review and approve Inspection & Test Plans (ITP)
  • Participate in or review Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), performance tests, noise tests, and dimensional inspections
  • Review Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions from vendors

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

Technical Knowledge

Proficiency with the following codes and standards is essential:

  • ASTM, ASME, API, ISO, EN
  • Hydraulic Institute (HI)
  • MSS SP standards
  • Painting and corrosion protection standards
