## Title: Machinist/Turner – Hydropower Plant
Position Overview
We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Machinist/Turner at our hydropower facility. This role involves fabricating, repairing, and maintaining mechanical components and equipment essential to hydropower plant operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate machine tools to fabricate and repair mechanical components
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to create accurate parts
- Ensure precise measurements using tools such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, screw gauges, and precision gauges
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on hydropower plant equipment, including turbines, pumps, and valves
- Fabricate or refurbish machine parts as needed to minimize downtime
- Assist in the alignment and assembly of mechanical components
- Inspect finished components to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards
- Perform tests on machined parts to confirm functionality and fit
- Maintain records of machining processes and completed tasks
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while operating machinery
- Provide technical input during troubleshooting and repair processes
- Assist in training other staff on machining and equipment handling techniques
- Prepare periodic reports for the Head of Workshop
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Head of Workshop
Minimum Qualifications
- National Diploma (ND) in Mechanical Engineering, Machining Technology, or a related field
Required Competencies and Attributes
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining machine tools
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and precision machining
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Knowledge of hydropower equipment and its components
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Adherence to safety protocols and regulations
