## Title: Machinist – Additive Manufacturing
About the Role
RusselSmith Group is seeking a qualified Machinist to join our team in Lagos. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of additive manufacturing (AM) equipment, ensuring optimal performance and the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain additive manufacturing machines on a daily basis
- Load AM materials into machines according to specifications
- Monitor print queues and anticipate material changes based on print schedules and requests
- Remove AM components from build platforms
- Perform heat treatment and post-processing of AM components, including hand finishing and powder removal
- Inspect 3D-printed parts for quality and identify print errors
- Maintain AM systems and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with engineering teams
- Achieve and maintain the highest quality standards in all work
- Contribute to best practices in AM process operations
- Maintain work-area cleanliness and organization to company standards, as the facility hosts regular customer and stakeholder visits
Required Qualifications
- Technical School diploma with Mechanical or Machinist qualification
- Technical certification in Technical Drawings and Metrology
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in machining technology
- Ability to operate machine tools (lathe, milling machine, drilling machine, etc.)
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Strong ability to read technical drawings and understand manufacturing technologies
- Good manual dexterity and practical hands-on skills
Key Competencies
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to design, assemble, disassemble, modify, and operate test apparatuses
- Ability to develop experimental concepts quickly and iterate based on empirical evidence
- Experience in mechanical prototyping design and assembly
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to handle manual and physical elements of the role
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with 3D printers and additive manufacturing techniques
