## Title: Machinist – Additive Manufacturing

About the Role

RusselSmith Group is seeking a qualified Machinist to join our team in Lagos. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of additive manufacturing (AM) equipment, ensuring optimal performance and the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain additive manufacturing machines on a daily basis
  • Load AM materials into machines according to specifications
  • Monitor print queues and anticipate material changes based on print schedules and requests
  • Remove AM components from build platforms
  • Perform heat treatment and post-processing of AM components, including hand finishing and powder removal
  • Inspect 3D-printed parts for quality and identify print errors
  • Maintain AM systems and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with engineering teams
  • Achieve and maintain the highest quality standards in all work
  • Contribute to best practices in AM process operations
  • Maintain work-area cleanliness and organization to company standards, as the facility hosts regular customer and stakeholder visits

Required Qualifications

  • Technical School diploma with Mechanical or Machinist qualification
  • Technical certification in Technical Drawings and Metrology
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in machining technology
  • Ability to operate machine tools (lathe, milling machine, drilling machine, etc.)
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Strong ability to read technical drawings and understand manufacturing technologies
  • Good manual dexterity and practical hands-on skills

Key Competencies

  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to design, assemble, disassemble, modify, and operate test apparatuses
  • Ability to develop experimental concepts quickly and iterate based on empirical evidence
  • Experience in mechanical prototyping design and assembly
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Physical ability to handle manual and physical elements of the role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with 3D printers and additive manufacturing techniques
