Legal Officer at Efficacy Construction Company

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Legal Officer to join Efficacy Construction Company in Lagos, Nigeria. This position offers the opportunity to manage diverse legal matters across all company operations and sites within the Efficacy Group.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend to court matters and matters with law enforcement agencies
• Draft and/or review legal letters, contracts, agreements, briefs, notices, circulars, correspondence, orders, reports, and other legal forms from individuals, companies, government, or third parties as requested
• Review and check documents and papers for compliance and correction
• Research and prepare legal opinions on various civil matters, including claims for compensation against the company
• Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues
• Ensure company-wide compliance with the Labour Act across all Efficacy Group entities
• Prepare, file, and plead cases in the Commercial Court to pursue amounts owed to the company
• Proofread content drafted by the Customer Service Officer before posting on social media platforms as instructed
• Liaise with and assist external counsel in the discharge of their obligations
• File oppositions in matters where title is being passed or property is being encumbered with arrears due to the company
• Attend company events and assist with event planning as required
• Attend all legal and corporate meetings involving clients, vendors, and customers
• Monitor and ensure proper compliance across company WhatsApp groups
• Collaborate with the Accounts department on statutory documentation
• Work with Land Assist on client management and documentation, including drafting contract agreements for all Peak sites and other sites as instructed
• Maintain a comprehensive database of the status of all court matters involving the company
