## Title: Lead, Finance – NGO (Gender-Based Violence)

Job Overview

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Lead, Finance is a key member of the senior leadership team. This role provides strategic financial oversight, ensures full regulatory compliance, and builds a strong internal financial culture grounded in transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability.

The Lead will oversee financial planning, budgeting, reporting, risk management, and ensure that financial systems support effective program delivery and strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the organization's annual budgeting process, financial strategy, and multi-year forecasting
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to donors, Board of Directors, and regulatory bodies
  • Oversee all accounting processes, audits, payroll, and statutory compliance (e.g., FIRS, CAC, PENCOM)
  • Review, develop, and enforce internal controls to safeguard organizational assets
  • Train and supervise the finance team, ensuring high performance, integrity, and consistency
  • Collaborate with strategy and sustainability, and people, culture and operations team leads and directors to align budgets with implementation realities and deliverables
  • Guide contract and grant compliance, donor reporting, and cost recovery strategies
  • Support fundraising teams by preparing budgets for proposals and tracking fund utilization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ICAN/ACCA certified (MBA is an asset)
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in financial management, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role within a nonprofit
  • Deep understanding of nonprofit accounting, grant compliance, and donor financial reporting (local and international)
  • Strong leadership and coaching ability with a commitment to capacity building
  • Proven integrity, confidentiality, and ability to manage sensitive information
