  • This is a full-time, on-site role for a Land Surveyor based in Port Harcourt. The Land Surveyor will be responsible for performing topographic surveys, land measurements, and boundary calculations to support civil engineering and construction projects. The role includes operating surveying instruments such as total stations, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with project teams to ensure precise implementation of designs and plans. The Land Surveyor will also ensure compliance with relevant standards and contribute to project planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities: Field Survey & Data Collection
  • Site Reconnaissance: Conduct initial site inspections to identify survey control points and potential topographical challenges.
  • Topographical Surveys: Perform detailed surveys to map land contours, existing structures, utilities, and natural features.
  • Setting Out: Mark out the exact positions for roads, foundations, piling, and other structural elements based on engineering blueprints.
  • Leveling: Establish and maintain vertical control points (benchmarks) to ensure correct elevations across the project site.
Data Processing & Mapping
  • Calculations: Perform complex mathematical calculations to verify survey data, including area, volume, and coordinate geometry.
  • CAD Drafting: Translate field data into detailed 2D/3D maps and plans using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or GIS software.
  • As-Built Surveys: Conduct final surveys upon project completion to document the exact location and dimensions of the finished work compared to the original design.
Equipment & Compliance
  • Instrument Management: Calibrate and maintain high-precision survey equipment, including Total Stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, Digital Levels, and Theodolites.
  • Legal Standards: Ensure all survey work complies with the Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON) regulations and local land laws.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: B.Sc. or HND in Surveying and Geoinformatics.
  • Professional Membership: Registration with SURCON (Surveyors Council of Nigeria) is a significant advantage.
  • Experience: 5–10 years of experience in construction surveying (Roads, Bridges, or Buildings).
  • Technical Skills: * Expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS.
  • Proficiency in modern surveying technology (RTK GPS, Total Station, and Laser Scanners).
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Mathematical Precision: Exceptional accuracy in trigonometry and geometry to prevent costly construction errors.
