Junior Architect at Elalan Construction

About the Role

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Junior Architect. This role offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team on diverse architectural projects in Lagos, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

• Create building designs and highly detailed drawings using both hand drafting and specialist computer-aided design (CAD) applications
• Liaise with construction professionals to assess the feasibility of potential projects
• Navigate constraining factors such as town planning regulations, environmental impact assessments, and project budgets
• Work closely with site engineers, construction managers, quantity surveyors, and architectural technologists
• Write and present reports, proposals, applications, and contracts
• Specify requirements for assigned projects
• Adapt plans according to circumstances and resolve problems that arise during construction
• Participate in project and team management activities
• Complete site and administrative tasks as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications

• BSc or HND in Architecture (Design and Drafting)
• 4 years of post-graduation experience as a junior or trainee architect
• Industrial attachment and NYSC experience in an architectural role

Project Experience

• Must have worked with a Senior Architect on developing a minimum of 3 design briefs per year
• Experience drafting construction drawings and preparing PowerPoint presentations

Technical Competencies

• Excellent knowledge of Design Compliance
• Adequate knowledge of Architectural Standards (NEUFERT)
• Good knowledge of 3D design
• Proficient in design software including AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• Strong skills in mood board presentation and research
• Good knowledge of design processes
• Strong visual awareness and attention to detail
• Strong drawing skills with ability to work in three dimensions
• Experience producing quality sets of drawings
• Ability to incorporate Civil and MEP requirements in architectural designs
