## Title: Junior Accountant
About the Role

The Junior Accountant is responsible for assisting in day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the preparation of financial reports. The role involves handling basic accounting tasks, data entry, bank reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial statements and reports
- Record daily financial transactions (e.g., journal entries, invoices, receipts, and payments)
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances
- Support payroll processing and ensure timely disbursement of salaries
- Prepare and file tax documents (e.g., VAT, PAYE, WHT) in compliance with local regulations
- Maintain an organized and up-to-date filing system for financial documents
- Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation
- Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Senior Accountant or Finance Manager
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience
- Experience in preparing tax returns or financial statements
Additional Requirements
- Professional certification or ongoing studies (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is an added advantage
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Tally)
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial regulations
