Junior Accountant

Position Overview: - The Junior Accountant of the restaurant handles daily financial tasks like recording transactions, processing invoices (AP/AR), reconciling bank statements, managing petty cash, and assisting with monthly reports (P&L, Balance Sheet) and audits, ensuring compliance and accuracy under senior supervision, focusing on food/beverage costs and sales data. - Key duties involve data entry, payment processing, ledger maintenance, inventory cost tracking, payroll support, and generating reports for management. Key Responsibilities: - Transaction Processing: Accurately record daily sales, expenses, and journal entries into the accounting system. - Accounts Payable (AP): Process vendor invoices, verify purchase orders, and prepare payments. - Accounts Receivable (AR): Manage customer invoices and follow up on payments, potentially for catering or events. - Bank & Cash Management: Perform daily cash reconciliations, manage petty cash, and reconcile bank statements. - Reporting: Assist with preparing monthly P&L, Balance Sheets, and management reports. - Month/Year-End Close: Support senior accountants with closing procedures and audits. - Inventory/Costing: Monitor Food & Beverage (F&B) costs, track inventory, and reconcile against sales. - Payroll Support: Assist with payroll processing and related tax remittances (PAYE, etc.). - Compliance: Help ensure adherence to accounting standards and tax regulations (VAT, WHT). Required Qualifications: & Requirements - Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related field; higher qualifications are an added advantage. - 1 – 2 years of experience as a Junior accountant, preferably in a restaurant or retail environment. - Experience: Previous bookkeeping or junior accounting experience is helpful. - Technical: Proficiency in accounting software, MS Excel.
