IT Officer at SIMS Nigeria Limited

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and skilled IT Officer to support our technology operations, ensure system reliability, and provide technical assistance across the organization. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, solution-oriented, and able to manage both hardware and software issues while contributing to the overall efficiency of our IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first-line technical support to staff on hardware, software, and network issues
• Install, configure, and maintain computers, printers, and other IT equipment
• Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and resolving issues promptly
• Support and maintain company networks, internet connectivity, and servers
• Assist in system upgrades, backups, and regular maintenance tasks
• Ensure IT security protocols are followed, including antivirus management and user access control
• Manage IT inventory and keep accurate records of devices and licenses
• Collaborate with external vendors or service providers when needed
• Support the implementation of new systems or applications

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Proven experience in IT support or a similar role
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365
• Understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, routers, switches)
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues effectively
• Good documentation and reporting skills
• Strong communication and customer-service mindset

Preferred Skills

• Experience with IT security tools and best practices
• Knowledge of server administration or basic database management
• Familiarity with cloud services (Azure, AWS, Google Workspace)
