A dynamic team is expanding and looking for the right talent.
Role Overview
- As an Investment Intern, you will support the investment team, gaining hands-on experience in deal evaluation and execution.
- Your responsibilities will also include streamlining internal operations and building the visibility of the WEAV Capital brand in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
Pipeline Development:
- Conduct outreach to potential companies to develop a pipeline for investment
- Initiate conversations with potential founders and attend relevant industry and ecosystem events
- Support the team in developing our Investment Readiness Program for founders in the ecosystem
Investment Analysis & Due Diligence:
- Assist in screening companies against WEAV’s investment criteria: reviewing financial information and conducting risk and impact assessments.
- Conduct industry and market research to support investment decisions.
- Support in the preparation of teasers and investment memorandums, including participating in founders calls/site visits.
Market Research:
- Research on: WEAV’s target sectors in Nigeria, Ghana, an,d opportunistically Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Track sectoral trends (regulatory, macroeconomic, and startup activity) that impact the ecosystem.
Media & Events:
- Provide support with managing WEAV’s LinkedIn and other social media platforms.
- Monitor engagement metrics and suggest improvements to enhance online presence.
- Research and implement best practices for digital branding.
- Represent WEAV Capital at relevant events (when required).
Other support:
- Support fundraising initiatives where required.
- Assist with other business needs that may arise from time to time.
Candidate profile
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, with a minimum of a Second Class Upper (or equivalent) academic performance.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and basic accounting principles.
- Demonstrated analytical ability
- Advanced Excel skills
- Close attention to detail and the ability to work with numbers independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Prior exposure to investment analysis, consulting, venture capital, or investment roles.
- Basic financial modelling skills
- Interest in Venture Capital, Gender Lens Investing, or emerging markets investing.
