## Title: Inventory Officer
Position Summary
The Inventory Officer is responsible for monitoring, managing, and maintaining accurate stock levels in the supermarket. This role ensures proper stock control, timely replenishment, prevention of stock loss, and efficient record-keeping to support smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all supermarket goods
- Conduct regular stock counts (daily, weekly, monthly) and reconcile discrepancies
- Monitor stock levels to ensure timely replenishment and prevent stockouts
- Check goods received from suppliers against invoices and purchase orders
- Track product expiry dates and ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO – First In, First Out)
- Assist in implementing and monitoring inventory control procedures
- Generate inventory reports for management, highlighting slow-moving, fast-moving, and expired goods
- Identify and report stock variances, damages, theft, or shrinkage issues
- Collaborate with procurement and store teams to forecast demand and manage stock accordingly
- Ensure compliance with supermarket policies on storage, safety, and hygiene
- Supervise stock transfers between departments or branches (if applicable)
- Support audits and provide documentation as required
Qualifications & Requirements
- OND, HND, or B.Sc. in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 1–3 years' experience in inventory, stock control, or storekeeping (supermarket/retail experience is an added advantage)
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or inventory management software
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping ability
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Integrity, honesty, and ability to work with minimal supervision
