## Title: HSE Officer

About the Role

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of HSE Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programmes that align with regulatory requirements and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement HSE programmes that align with regulatory and company requirements
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of industry best practices and safety standards to maintain operational integrity and safety excellence
  • Support the Location In-Charge in designing accident prevention safety programs and creating an atmosphere that fosters worker participation and zero injuries
  • Support the workforce and line heads to implement HSE standards in line with the Company's HSE Policy, Procedures and Systems
  • Establish and implement oil spill prevention and control plans
  • Establish and implement site-specific emergency response plans, supporting the Location In-Charge in planning and conducting periodic emergency drills
  • Perform risk assessments and job safety analyses (JSA) to proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with rig operations
  • Develop educational and awareness training programmes to communicate HSE procedures, emergency response plans, safety alerts, lessons learnt, material safety data, process hazard information, and safety plans to the workforce
  • Conduct regular inspections and periodic audits
  • Collate, prepare and submit HSE performance metrics to the Head of HSE

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Completed NYSC (National Youth Service Corps)
  • HSE Level 3 (Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria) and/or IOSH, NEBOSH certificate(s)
  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR
  • Understanding of Fire Protection in line with NFPA standards and local fire safety regulations
  • Understanding of road safety

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Computer literate (PowerPoint, Excel and MS Word)
  • Proactive, self-starter with excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to conduct inspections, incident investigations and facility audits
  • Good reporting and organisational skills
  • Ability to commute to the place of assignment daily
