## Title: HSE Officer

About the Role

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates to join NIPCO Gas Limited as an HSE Officer in Lagos, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programmes that align with regulatory and company requirements
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of industry best practices and safety standards to maintain operational integrity and safety excellence
  • Support the Location In-Charge to design accident prevention safety programmes and create an atmosphere that fosters worker participation and zero injuries
  • Support the workforce and line heads to implement HSE standards in line with the Company's HSE Policy, Procedures and Systems
  • Establish and implement oil spill prevention and control plans
  • Establish and implement site-specific emergency response plans, supporting the Location In-Charge to plan and conduct periodic emergency drills
  • Perform risk assessments and job safety analyses (JSA) to proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with rig operations
  • Develop educational and awareness training programmes to communicate HSE procedures, emergency response plans, safety alerts, lessons learnt, material safety data, process hazard information, and safety plans to the workforce
  • Conduct regular inspections and periodic audits
  • Collate, prepare and submit HSE performance metrics to the Head of HSE

Required Qualifications

  • Completed NYSC
  • HSE Level 3 (Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria) and/or IOSH, NEBOSH certificate(s)
  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Computer literacy (PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Word)
  • Understanding of Fire Protection in line with NFPA standards and local fire safety regulations
  • Proactive, self-starter with excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to carry out inspections, incident investigations, and facility audits
  • Understanding of road safety
  • Good reporting and organisational skills
