HSE Officer at Benin Electricity Distribution Plc. (BEDC)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated HSE Officer to join our expanding team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental programs across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct HSE training programs for staff
• Ensure compliance with all HSE regulations and organizational policies
• Compile and maintain incident and accident registers
• Investigate incidents and accidents, and prepare detailed reports as required
• Identify hazardous wastes and substances, and ensure proper disposal according to environmental guidelines
• Enforce compliance with the Company's Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy
• Implement preventative measures to eliminate unsafe processes and prevent recurrence
• Conduct regular safety meetings, tool-box talks, and motivational briefings
• Develop and conduct emergency evacuation and response procedures
• Perform risk assessments across operational areas
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• HND or Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in an HSE role or similar position
• Current membership of ISPON (compulsory)
• Professional certifications are an added advantage
