A dynamic team is expanding and looking for the right talent. Department/Division: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Reports To:HSE Manager / Site Safety Lead Position Overview: HSE Officer facilitate a culture of safety by observing, mentoring, and correcting unsafe behaviors on site. They ensure compliance with Nigerian Factories Act, NUPRC regulations, and company HSE policies, aiming for Goal Zero incidents. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct daily Toolbox Talks (TBT) and safety briefings. - Perform daily site inspections and HSE audits to identify hazards. - Coach workforce on "Safe Systems of Work" and intervention techniques. - Investigate accidents/incidents and near misses; prepare detailed reports using root cause analysis. - Ensure compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) systems. - Monitor the use of PPE and ensure availability of safety equipment. - Liaise with regulatory bodies (DPR/NUPRC) during site visits. - Conduct emergency drills (fire, muster, man-down) regularly. - Maintain HSE statistics and records (Man-hours, LTI, TRC). - Promote behavioral-based safety (BBS) programs. Required Qualifications: - HND or B.Sc. in Science, Engineering, or Environmental discipline. - NYSC Discharge Certificate. Professional Certifications & Licenses - ISPON (Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria) Membership – Compulsory. - NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC). - OSHA or IOSH Managing Safely. Experience: Requirements - Minimum 4 years as an HSE Officer in heavy engineering or Oil & Gas projects. Technical Skills & Competencies - In-depth knowledge of Nigerian HSE laws and ISO 45001. - Risk Assessment and JHA preparation skills. - Incident Investigation and Reporting. - First Aid and CPR competency. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Number of BBS observations/interventions per week. - Closure rate of corrective actions (>95%). - Zero LTI (Lost Time Injury) on assigned shift. - Training man-hours delivered. - Timely submission of HSE reports. Working Conditions - Active construction site environment (Onshore/Offshore). - Exposure to weather elements. Physical Requirements - Physical fitness to climb heights and access confined spaces for inspection. - Good visual acuity and hearing.
