We are seeking an experienced professional for this opening.
Position Overview:
- A Hotel Accountant is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the hotel, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budget control, revenue monitoring, and compliance with financial regulations.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting operations of the hotel:
- Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers
- Supervise the accounts office and accounting staff
- Monitor daily revenue from rooms, restaurant, bar, events, and other services
- Ensure proper reconciliation of sales reports with cash, POS, and bank transfers
- Prevent revenue leakage and financial discrepancies
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Produce profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Present financial reports to management
- Prepare and monitor the hotel’s annual budget
- Track expenses and ensure spending stays within approved limits
- Identify areas to reduce cost and improve profitability
Oversee bank reconciliations:
- Monitor cash flow and ensure sufficient funds for operations
- Approve major payments and financial transactions
- Supervise payroll preparation and staff salary payments
- Ensure statutory deductions and remittances are accurate
- Ensure timely payment of taxes and statutory obligations
- Maintain compliance with financial regulations and government policies
Prepare for internal and external audits:
- Implement financial control systems to prevent fraud
- Ensure proper documentation and authorization procedures
- Develop and enforce accounting policies
- Train staff on financial procedures and controls.
Requirements:
- HND / B.Sc in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or hotel PMS)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of budgeting and cost control.
